I rebooted but I was unable to start the MySQL service. No fsck errors were detected. I have R1Soft backup but did not think it would restore the website db's if MySQL was not working. Panicked and started an image restore from my vmware backup but its going to take about all day to restore that server. Was wondering if I should have logged into the webserver and removed/re-installed MySQL. Then gone into R1soft and then restored ALL databases including mysql db Any thoughts on the best way to proceed when one loses MySQL service on a server? Thanks!
Look into the Linux syslog file to find out why MySQL did not start. In most cases, there s just a table or index damaged or a problem with the innodb log files which can be solved with the innodb recovery mode.
