i just downloaded fedora 8 to set up in my office and i seem to be stuck. heres my current situation: i have an internet connection (E1) and the modem is connected to a cisco 2600 router with a static ip address. i need help assigning the static ip address on to my server. some other information my cisco routers gateway when accessed to telnet is 192.168.1.130 my cisco router has an assigned static IP 203.xxx.xxx.xxx im currently using a Cross over wire rather than a conventional cat-5 (will this cause problems?) i have a primary and secondary DNS server provided by my ISP my Server box has Two LAN cards one is 10/100mb and the other one is a gigabit card. a subnet mask was provided also by my ISP 255.255.255.248 finally i have a linksys giga-switch to connect to the rest of my network. this is how i want my network to look like once everything is set up ISP modem <-> Cisco router Cross-overwire <-> eth0 server eth1 <-> switch <-> work stations i do hope someone can give me step by step instructions. it would highly be appreciated as i am a beginner.
If the Fedora system should use the static IP address, you'd have to replace the Cisco router with the Fedora system and configure it as a router.
