Hello everybody. I am trying to find perfect network monitoring solution for our company. I know there are dozens of such programs. Problem is server monitoring software must be 100% reliable, this means I have to spend a months for testing and then I may discover that monitor is not reliable enough. Software should be able to perform ping, trace, http tests; work with SNMP agents, receive SNMP Traps, monitor CPU usage and Performance Counters. Would be great to use WMI requests as well. So, which software would you recommend?
Did you take a look here? http://www.howtoforge.com/taxonomy_menu/1/59 I can't tell you which one is the best, that depends on your needs and preferences.
I'm a big fan of Nagios - www.nagios.org Seems rock solid, and reasonably easy to setup once you know how to get around the config files (It's alot easier to setup than it used to be).
