Guys, I have to following domain names registered and currently going to the same website: www.mcrirents.com www.mcrirents.org www.mcrirent.net www.computerrents.com What I want to do is to build an ISPConfig server to host the website. My config will be as follows: IP: 141.xxx.xxx.154 Host: linux.xxxxxxxxx.com Debian Sarge Perfect Setup 141.xxx.xxx.154 --> linux.xxxxxxxxx.com --> www.mcrirents.com, ftp.mcrirents.com Aliases: www.mcrirents.org, www.mcrirents.net, www.computerrents.com I will be doing external mail with this setup since I already have an Exchange 2003 server setup. When I do to set that up, I know I have to choose ext mailserver, but could I use an internal ip or does it have to be an external ip? The ISPConfig server and mailserver will be hosted within the same organization. I would like the ability to manage my own DNS since I have a few static IP's. I want to register the above IP(141.xxx.xxx.150) as a DNS Server(ns1.xxxxxxxxx.com) with my Domain Registrar. I don't really understand the DNS part of ISPConfig but I've seen the options to create a master and slave. Would I need to create a master as ns1.xxxxxxxxx.com and then tell my DNS registrar to point to that? I also would be doing mysql databases for the website. I will need the mail function to work since we do an online order form system. If I select ext mail server, would this feature work? I want the orders to be sent via SMTP to the enduser once it's submitted. Once the server is setup and functioning, I would like to have some sort of backup, in case the server fails. What's the recommended method for this. Would it be to setup another ISPConfig server and doing some type of replication? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Rocky
Regarding the web sites, you must use the IP address that you see in the output of Code: ifconfig . For DNS, use public IP addresses.
