after installation - everything goes through with no errors, I go through the mysql setup and all, but when it comes to finishing and exiting out, when I goto /etc/init.d/ there is no ispconfig_server and I can't access anything... what gives?? also as I look around at everything, there is no trace of ISPConfig at all, accept the original tar file I downloaded... no logs or anything... running debian 5.0.2...

Normally 512MB of RAM should be enough, but I see that you have no swap. If possible, try to increase your RAM (e.g. to 1GB).
Dang, well that's not really an option, its a VPS server. I was trying to cut the cost of my server, I currently have a dedicated server but its kinda pricey, so wanted to do a bit of a downgrade, but guess its really not going to work. oh well guess ill wait till I can get my server running here at the house instead... thanks for all the help falko!
