I stupidly deleted the ftp user in centos 4.8. When cleaning it up after a try of installing pure-ftp virtual hosting tutorial didnt work. But for the life of me, cant seem to get that working again, the virtual part works fine, but want to get the user being able to view a list of files and/or folders, without having to login. Can this account be reinstated somehow? Can someone help just as soon as possible, Jeremy.
Sorry non, but usually pure-ftp makes the ftp user on centos 4.8 when you install it. But its not for some reason. Is it possible to recreate it somehow?
Sorry for not replying before. It was the centos 4.8 virtual hosting with pure-ftp etc... Using the command userdel -fr ftp. I thought if I copied the Apache user settings, looked at the apache user, created a new account and just changed the username to ftp and it would work (using webmin though). But it didnt, any helps great! Jeremy
You must also change the user ID and put the user in the right group (I guess it's named ftp as well). Maybe you also have to change the user's homedir.
Whats the uid of your ftp user and ftp group falco? Just to want to see if this works instead, its not working as of trying to add the ftp user and automatically adding the group of the same name.
