    Hi,
I have install ISPConfig following the tuto on Ubuntu.
I am able to receive email from the outside, like gmail but I cannot send outside the network.
I was thinking it is because of the port 25 but even if I use thunderbird with ssl or tsl, it is not being sent.... however, when i configured thunderbird, i had to add security exeption... i believe, there are an issue with my ssl
I certified the subdomain (mail.domain.com) with lets encrypt but I believe it is the wrong approched, as it is used for the domain and most likely not emails....

    Here the log file

Is port 25 open in the firewall?

    Yes it is....
any other idea... do we need particular DNS for that. I did not enable yet the DKIM to avoid mistakes here

Try to telnet on port 25 to any of the IPs your mailservers tried to reach and failed.

    Thanks,
I tried and yes, looks like my hosting provider is blocking it
    howver, i am confuse here

i red somewhere that port 25 was block by many ISP, so not necessary the hosting provider... I tried from my local network and the results slightly better but not going through neither

I was thinking by using imap on port 465 or 587 we would avoid port 25...
and i cannot send from any...

thanks in advance for enlighting me o_O

You are confusing things here... you can avoid port 25 for the communication from your computer to your ISP's mail server. But your ISP can't avoid using port 25 for proper mail communication with other mail servers afaik. And you are trying to be an ISP here.

got it thanks for your lights ;-)
so, now I will check with OVH (my hosting provider) if they are blocking port 25.

    Hi,
I checked with my hosting provider and they confirmed blocking the port 25
however, they confirm that I should be able to send email using port 587...
I have been trying to modify the lines in master.cf and main.cf but it is not sending...
    I got this return email.
    The mail system

    thanks for your help!

Neither main.cf nor master.cf has to be modified manually for using a relay server. If you modified them, then the first step is to undo all changes that you made. Then login to ispconfig, go to system > server config > mail and set the relay server there icl. port. When the relay server is e.g. relay.ovh.tld and you want to send to that server on port 587, then you enter this in the relay server field:

    relay.ovh.tld:587

Thanks Till and sorry for my questions but I am not yet so familiar with all these. Hence, I am trying first and then ask questions ;-)
So relayhost is my only option if port 25 is lock from my hosting provider? I tried what you said an it works fine, thanks.

Yes. When your ISP blocks port 25 outgoing, then the only way to send mail from your server directly is to use a relay host that is used by postfix to relay all outgoing email.
