Any ideas? I belive this is either a squirrelmail problem or a postfix one, but I can't figure it out. PS: Apparently I'm tired, I posted in ISPConfig 2 instead of ISPConfig 3, sorry...
Check your postfix main.cf file, it seems as if your domain is listed there. Change all occurrences of yourdomain.tld to a subdomain like server1.yourdomain.tld and restart postfux. a domain that is uased to receive emails shall not be listed in main.cf as ispconfig uses postfix virtual domains.
I have in my main.cf: mydestination = $myhostname, localhost.$mydomain myhostname = s1.domain.ro with the mention that $mydomain is not used (with an = sign) rather I belive that postfix automaticly strips the "s1." portion from myhostname and uses that as mydomain
This is my main.cf, generated by ispconfig I belive: queue_directory = /var/spool/postfix command_directory = /usr/sbin daemon_directory = /usr/lib/postfix data_directory = /var/lib/postfix mail_owner = postfix unknown_local_recipient_reject_code = 550 debug_peer_level = 2 debugger_command = PATH=/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin ddd $daemon_directory/$process_name $process_id & sleep 5 sendmail_path = /usr/sbin/sendmail newaliases_path = /usr/bin/newaliases mailq_path = /usr/bin/mailq setgid_group = maildrop html_directory = /usr/share/doc/packages/postfix-doc/html manpage_directory = /usr/share/man sample_directory = /usr/share/doc/packages/postfix-doc/samples readme_directory = /usr/share/doc/packages/postfix-doc/README_FILES inet_protocols = all biff = no content_filter = delay_warning_time = 1h disable_dns_lookups = no disable_mime_output_conversion = no inet_interfaces = localhost 5.2.150.155 masquerade_classes = envelope_sender, header_sender, header_recipient masquerade_domains = masquerade_exceptions = root mydestination = $myhostname, localhost.$mydomain myhostname = s1.domain.ro mynetworks_style = subnet relayhost = alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases canonical_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/canonical relocated_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/relocated sender_canonical_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/sender_canonical transport_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/transport mail_spool_directory = /var/mail message_strip_characters = \0 defer_transports = mailbox_command = mailbox_transport = mailbox_size_limit = 0 message_size_limit = 0 strict_8bitmime = no strict_rfc821_envelopes = no smtpd_helo_required = no smtpd_client_restrictions = smtpd_helo_restrictions = smtpd_sender_restrictions = hash:/etc/postfix/access smtpd_recipient_restrictions = permit_mynetworks,reject_unauth_destination ############################################################ # The above main.cf file is not one from a ispconfig perfect server setup,you must have used a different setup or you had a different controlpanel installed on that server and did not reinstall it from scratch before you installed ispconfig. It contains plenty of incompatible directives and also directive sthat ispconfig inserted are commented out, so this setup cant work. You must have mixed several setups or controlpanels here. I highly recommend that you format the server and then do a clean install as described in the perfect server guides, this will be fatsre then debugging all the issues that arise from this config mix.
it was a clean install server, using the guide... I cannot do a reinstall because I had 2 dozen problems to begin with, services that didn't start, wrong users, wrong running user processes, wrong folder permissions, I've been going at it for 2 weeks now, and the mail is all that is left, so no clean install... if you can help by giving me a master.cf and main.cf made by ispconfig that would be great, i'll try and figure out the rest... Thank you!
Opensuse is indeed a bad choice for a server, I fully understad your frustration. Thats why we recommend to use Debian or Ubuntu to our customers at ISPConfig.org. Setting up the same server and getting all services running takes about 40 - 60 minutes on Debian and Ubuntu. First ensure that your hostname is correct, the command: hostname -f returns s1.domain.ro and not just domain.ro. Then search for domain.ro in /etc to find in which postfix related config file it still exists: grep -r domain.ro /etc/
plus the server is a bit far from my location and just to do a install would mean to lose a day, don't quite have that right now so i'm gonna try and fix it for now at least... output from grep /etc/named.conf.include:zone "domain.ro" { /etc/named.conf.include: file "/var/lib/named/pri.domain.ro"; /etc/resolv.conf:search ns1.domain.ro domain.ro /etc/amavisd.conf:$mydomain = 'domain.ro'; # a convenient default for other settings /etc/getmail/imap_gmail_com_tehnic_domain_ro.conf:arguments = ("-i", "-bm", "[email protected]") /etc/hosts:x.x.x.x s1.domain.ro s1 /etc/amavisd.conf~:$mydomain = 'domain.ro'; # a convenient default for other settings /etc/amavisd.conf~:$myhostname = 's1.domain.ro'; /etc/sysconfig/network/config:NETCONFIG_DNS_STATIC_SEARCHLIST="domain.ro" /etc/postfix/main.cf.bak:myhostname = s1.domain.ro /etc/postfix/main.cf~:mydestination = s1.domain.ro, localhost, localhost.localdomain /etc/postfix/main.cf~:myhostname = s1.domain.ro /etc/postfix/main.cf:mydomain = s1.domain.ro /etc/postfix/main.cf:myhostname = s1.domain.ro /etc/postfix/main.cf~3:mydestination = s1.domain.ro, localhost, localhost.localdomain /etc/postfix/main.cf~3:myhostname = s1.domain.ro /etc/postfix/main.cf~2:mydestination = s1.domain.ro, localhost, localhost.localdomain /etc/postfix/main.cf~2:myhostname = s1.domain.ro /etc/HOSTNAME:s1.domain.ro /etc/apache2/sites-available/domain.ro.vhost:<Directory /srv/www/domain.ro> /etc/apache2/sites-available/domain.ro.vhost: DocumentRoot /srv/www/domain.ro/web /etc/apache2/sites-available/domain.ro.vhost: ServerName domain.ro /etc/apache2/sites-available/domain.ro.vhost: ServerAlias www.domain.ro /etc/apache2/sites-available/domain.ro.vhost: ServerAdmin [email protected] /etc/apache2/sites-available/domain.ro.vhost: ErrorLog /var/log/ispconfig/httpd/domain.ro/error.log /etc/apache2/sites-available/domain.ro.vhost: Alias /error/ "/srv/www/domain.ro/web/error/" /etc/apache2/sites-available/domain.ro.vhost: <Directory /srv/www/domain.ro/web> /etc/apache2/sites-available/domain.ro.vhost: <Directory /srv/www/domain.ro/web> /etc/fstab:/var/log/ispconfig/httpd/domain.ro /srv/www/clients/client1/web4/log none bind,nobootwait,_netdev 0 0 /etc/resolv.conf.netconfig:search domain.ro Binary file /etc/aliases.db matches /etc/hosts.YaST2save:x.x.x.x s1.domain.ro s1 hostname is ok BTW, thx for helping out... owe you a one for this and the dns crap
just to be sure, change it here: /etc/amavisd.conf~:$mydomain = 'domain.ro'; and maybe it is still in the aliasaes hash file: Binary file /etc/aliases.db matches so run: newaliases command to refresh it and restart postfix and try to send a mail again. A good method to test the system is that you login to webmail on the server and send an email to the same webmail account that you are logged in. It should take 20 - 30 seconds until the mail appears in the inbox. If not, then check the mail log if we still have the same error (but with new timestamp in the log lines).
in amavis I have this: $mydomain = 'domain.ro'; # a convenient default for other settings $myhostname = 's1.$mydomain'; changing it to s1.domain.ro would make $myhostname = s1.s1.domain.ro so I don't think it's from there newaliases run this morning so it should be good, that means that the error is still the same as last time proof: 2015-03-19T17:37:48.408382+02:00 s1 postfix/smtpd[11381]: connect from localhost[127.0.0.1] 2015-03-19T17:37:48.416893+02:00 s1 postfix/smtpd[11381]: 65B594C0673: client=localhost[127.0.0.1] 2015-03-19T17:37:48.458350+02:00 s1 postfix/cleanup[11387]: 65B594C0673: message-id=<[email protected]> 2015-03-19T17:37:48.460429+02:00 s1 postfix/smtpd[11381]: disconnect from localhost[127.0.0.1] 2015-03-19T17:37:48.461758+02:00 s1 postfix/qmgr[28550]: 65B594C0673: from=<[email protected]>, size=691, nrcpt=1 (queue active) 2015-03-19T17:37:48.485264+02:00 s1 dovecot: imap-login: Login: user=<[email protected]>, method=PLAIN, rip=127.0.0.1, lip=127.0.0.1, mpid=11390, secured, session=<9Sxk+6URGwB/AAAB> 2015-03-19T17:37:48.500356+02:00 s1 postfix/smtp[11389]: 65B594C0673: to=<[email protected]>, relay=none, delay=0.08, delays=0.05/0.02/0.01/0, dsn=5.4.6, status=bounced (mail for domain.ro loops back to myself) 2015-03-19T17:37:48.503131+02:00 s1 postfix/cleanup[11387]: 7A8224C090B: message-id=<[email protected]> 2015-03-19T17:37:48.504899+02:00 s1 postfix/bounce[11391]: 65B594C0673: sender non-delivery notification: 7A8224C090B 2015-03-19T17:37:48.505870+02:00 s1 postfix/qmgr[28550]: 7A8224C090B: from=<>, size=2567, nrcpt=1 (queue active) 2015-03-19T17:37:48.507115+02:00 s1 postfix/qmgr[28550]: 65B594C0673: removed 2015-03-19T17:37:48.512519+02:00 s1 postfix/smtp[11389]: 7A8224C090B: to=<[email protected]>, relay=none, delay=0.01, delays=0/0/0/0, dsn=5.4.6, status=bounced (mail for domain.ro loops back to myself) 2015-03-19T17:37:48.513758+02:00 s1 postfix/qmgr[28550]: 7A8224C090B: removed & 2015-03-19T17:38:58.996757+02:00 s1 postfix/smtpd[11381]: connect from localhost[127.0.0.1] 2015-03-19T17:38:58.998703+02:00 s1 postfix/smtpd[11381]: F3C564C07D3: client=localhost[127.0.0.1] 2015-03-19T17:38:59.039274+02:00 s1 postfix/cleanup[11387]: F3C564C07D3: message-id=<[email protected]> 2015-03-19T17:38:59.041381+02:00 s1 postfix/qmgr[28550]: F3C564C07D3: from=<[email protected]>, size=682, nrcpt=1 (queue active) 2015-03-19T17:38:59.042450+02:00 s1 postfix/smtpd[11381]: disconnect from localhost[127.0.0.1] 2015-03-19T17:38:59.049067+02:00 s1 postfix/smtp[11389]: F3C564C07D3: to=<[email protected]>, relay=none, delay=0.05, delays=0.04/0/0/0, dsn=5.4.6, status=bounced (mail for domain.ro loops back to myself) 2015-03-19T17:38:59.052529+02:00 s1 postfix/cleanup[11387]: 0C72C4C091C: message-id=<[email protected]> 2015-03-19T17:38:59.056051+02:00 s1 postfix/qmgr[28550]: 0C72C4C091C: from=<>, size=2558, nrcpt=1 (queue active) 2015-03-19T17:38:59.057713+02:00 s1 postfix/bounce[11391]: F3C564C07D3: sender non-delivery notification: 0C72C4C091C 2015-03-19T17:38:59.058862+02:00 s1 postfix/qmgr[28550]: F3C564C07D3: removed 2015-03-19T17:38:59.061854+02:00 s1 postfix/smtp[11389]: 0C72C4C091C: to=<[email protected]>, relay=none, delay=0.01, delays=0/0/0/0, dsn=5.4.6, status=bounced (mail for domain.ro loops back to myself) 2015-03-19T17:38:59.063856+02:00 s1 postfix/qmgr[28550]: 0C72C4C091C: removed
And you really added a email domain "domain.ro" in ispconfig? Please check that there are no typos or similar issues.
I really did =)) double checked, triple checked, maybe that's the problem I need to take a break... for a day or two, maybe i'll see something new when I get back, I know how hard it is to diagnose a problem without you being there, anymore ideas in the mean time are appreciated...
I wold really appreciate if you have a main.cf made for/by ispconfig 3 that I can use... mine is really a mess...
what if I delete the postfix confs and just run install for ispconfig? dose the installer run a check before modifying files? wouldn't the program just recreate the appropriate files without messing up everything else?
nvm about all that, done! YEY! Had to rebuild blasted main.cf from scratch! I officially hate OpenSuSe... Thx for the help, if you ever pass through ro let me know, you got a beer One last thing, I receive mail in /var/vmail/domain/name/new & I want to receive it in /var/vmail/domain/name/Maildir/new , any ideeas? I tried home_mailbox for postfix and #mail_home = /var/vmail/%d/%n #mail_location = maildir:~/Maildir for dovecot, but they seem not to work... funny thing is that the sent mail is in /var/vmail/domain/name/Maildir/.Sent/
