I was reading a how to at HTML: http://www.howtoforge.com/lamp_installation_ubuntu6.06 . It recommended these lines of code: Code: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop It seems as though Ubu Server and Ubu Desktop have different package sources and the package ubuntu-desktop does not come in the standard package sources. In the how-to, I suggest reading, he explains he does not know whether the package is on the cd or over internet. It sounds like he had played around a little before this point and forgot what he did. What can I do to make this package available.

I'm just fallowing the tutorial that I found on your site. I was told it was the easiest way to configure one. Could you do me a favour and look at the link before you don't help me. The other point is dual usage without having to crash my server by rebooting into a ubuntu desktop. The other part of it is that Linux is supposed to be customizable, so maybe the system I want to run isn't the same as yours. If you know a lot about severs and know a better way to do this tell me.
The sources.list looks ok, and http://packages.ubuntu.com/feisty/metapackages/ubuntu-desktop suggests that the package exists for your system, so I'm not sure where the problem is...
Thanks falco. I'm going to give up on this approch and try going the other direction. Desktop -> Server. It seems easier to configure. Thanks anyway.
