I can view .avi and .mpg streams in Firefox, but not .wmv. It asks me to download the .wmv file. I can watch them fine after downloading, but I want them to stream like the .avi and .mpg.

    I followed the howto.

What do I need to do to watch .wmv's in firefox, rather than downloading them?

    Thanks.

The mplayer plugin should be able to play wmv in firefox.

    except it doesn't.

Whenever I click a WMV file, it just asks me if I want to download the file.

I can play after downloading but I should be able to play it in the browser like I do AVI and MPG files

    Suggestions?

have u confirmed that you have the firefox mplayer plugin installed, not just mplayer it self.

You can check if firefox is using the plugin by going to about:plugins in your browser.

There is no such plugin in the Ubuntu 9.10 repos, including partners and medibuntu.

There is a mozilla mplayer plugin, and that is installed.

Can you try to install mozilla-plugin-vlc?
