Hello all and please forgive the noob questions. I need to know where this perfect server Suse 11.x gets placed on a 3 legged network. I would greatly appreciate a visio type diagram with sample ip address example. As in, if you are using the 192.168 address, your server should be.... both for the "dmz" and private network.
Do note, the perfect server guides are not to set up your complete network for you, they are merely a guide to get your favorite distro running as a server with 'acceptable' default settings. anyway to get back on your question. the perfect server can be placed anywhere on your network you would like. If your going to use the perfect server as a web server / border mail gateway / ftp server / dns server it 'should' be placed in DMZ. if its going to be used as File server / internal mail server (to send via the border mail gateway) / DHCP it should be placed on the private section.
