Environment: Debian Sarge, installed with the HowToForge's instructions, ISPConfig, and the ISPConfig phpMyAdmin also installed. When going into phpMyAdmin, it gives me a red colored error message at the bottom of its index page saying: The mbstring PHP extension was not found and you seem to be using a multibyte charset. Without the mbstring extension phpMyAdmin is unable to split strings correctly and it may result in unexpected results. Hmm, red colored. Unexpected results. I don't think I'd like that. Doing a search through Debian's packages, I can't find an obvious PHP string library package. Debian's own phpMyAdmin package doesn't have any such dependency. Has anyone seen this; can someone fill me in?
I dont think you will get any problems if you dont use 2 byte character locales. If you want to feix it you will have to change the compile options for PHP in the ispconfig installer.
