I am a complete newb to linux. I would like a a description of the different linux brands out there and what are their advantages and disadvantages. I will either load it up on my laptop or do a new desktop build. What worried me is I have heard of some problems with wireless connectivity using linux. I booted from a ubuntu cd and couldn't get my wireless to work. Anyhoo, I appreciate any input! Da Tiga
More recent server hardware might require a more recent version of Debian and Ubuntu Edgy Eft might then be the right choice. I run all my servers with Ubuntu 6.10. Also, see other threads in this forum if you have e.g. a Dell 860. Works with Ubuntu 6.10, apparently does not work with Debian......
Still no wireless Well, I tried the Drake live cd and sat there trying everything online to get the wireless to work...notta. I can 'see' the device in networking, I can activate it, but it stays disabled. Any suggestions? Thanx
