    Hi,

Recently I have installed a poptop/RADIUS and Squid on a box.
the problem is that clients disconnected rapidly by 629 and some times 800 errors.
I read the message log as bellow:

    --------------------------------------
    Sep 14 16:28:17 mx2 pptpd[7600]: CTRL: Client 172.16.2.54 control connection started
Sep 14 16:28:17 mx2 pptpd[7600]: CTRL: Starting call (launching pppd, opening GRE)
    Sep 14 16:28:17 mx2 pppd[7601]: Plugin radius.so loaded.
    Sep 14 16:28:17 mx2 pppd[7601]: RADIUS plugin initialized.
    Sep 14 16:28:17 mx2 pppd[7601]: Plugin /usr/lib/pptpd/pptpd-logwtmp.so is for pppd version 2.4.3, this is 2.4.4
Sep 14 16:28:17 mx2 pptpd[7600]: GRE: read(fd=6,buffer=8059660,len=8196) from PTY failed: status = -1 error = Input/output error, usually caused by unexpected termination of pppd, check option syntax and pppd logs
Sep 14 16:28:17 mx2 pptpd[7600]: CTRL: PTY read or GRE write failed (pty,gre)=(6,7)
    Sep 14 16:28:17 mx2 pptpd[7600]: CTRL: Client 172.16.2.54 control connection finished
    ------------------------------------------------

    where may be the problem?

    Regards,

Looks like a problem with the GRE tunnels

    Heyyyyyyyy I found it!!!!

    Hi,

I found that pptpd-1.3.3 can work with ppp-2.4.3 not ppp-2.4.4 that has installed on fedora 9. So I installed pptpd-1.3.4 from source and also comment out directive "logwtmp" in pptpd.conf. So it now work excellent.

    I found it on : http://www.members.optushome.com.au/~wskwok/poptop_ads_howto_4.htm

    very usefull source!

    Good lock,
