I am wondering if it is possible to let my users have dynamic dns enabled on stuff like their routers and such and have it update the dns records hosted on ispconfig 3. For instance user1 has ihazapples.com and their router is setup for dynamic dns updates with hostname router1. Could their router update the dns for their domain hosted on my ispconfig to point to the correct IP for that site? This would be great if I could enable it for my users. I have searched but only found where people want to run ispconfig on a non-static IP address.

I see where this is doable with powerdns. Would the powerdns plugin still work properly with ispconfig if I enabled the dynamic dns updates? Has anyone tried this before?

http://jimdrash.com/node/5 details how to create little bash script for a cron job to utilize the cloudflare API to update dns held with them. Perhaps a similar system could be implemented with ISPConfig.

If you haven't already, I'd advise you look into cloudflare, can save you a lot of various resources.
