    Hi,

    I've been trying to set up a mail server using the tutorial I found on the boards:

    http://www.howtoforge.com/virtual_postfix_mysql_quota_courier

    I have been able to send emails using the SMTP server; however, I can't log into the POP server or the IMAP server using SquirrelMail. I know I need to send an email to the account in order to populate the Mailder folders, however, whenever I send a message to the server from a separate account, I get the following bounce back email:

    Code:
    This is the Postfix program at host clayscape.com.

    I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not
    be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below.

    For further assistance, please send mail to <postmaster>

    If you do so, please include this problem report. You can
    delete your own text from the attached returned message.

    			The Postfix program

    <[email protected]> (expanded from <[email protected]>): Host or
        domain name not found. Name service error for name=hamail.clayscape.com
        type=A: Host not found

    For some reason, the host name is being appended to hamail, and I don't know why.

    Here is the output of postconf -n:

    Code:

    alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases

    I have also included the output for a few of the log files.

    Either create an A record for hamail.clayscape.com or change the contents of /etc/mailname and restart Postfix.

    Maildir Errors

    I have fixed the DNS problems, now I'm getting a different set of errors.

    If I try to access my mail account via IMAP/Squirrelmail, I get the following error:

    ERROR: Could not complete request.
    Query: SELECT "INBOX"
    Reason Given: Unable to open this mailbox.

    If I try accessing the account via the pop server in Thunderbird, I get the following error:

    Maildir invalid (no 'cur' directory)

    You need to sent an initial "dummy" mail to the newly created mail user. Postfix will automagically create the directories needed when the 1st mail arrives.
    Or use the 'maildirmake' command: http://www.courier-mta.org/?maildirmake.html
