Hi, I've setup my server with the above packages, along with Clamav and Clamav-daemon. (See my signiature for a complete list of packages I've installed.) All the spam mail I'm receiving (about 10 mails/day) has the Subject prepended with '***SPAM***'. In my Outlook client, this is not a problem as I have a rule that moves them to a seperate folder and I manage them there. However my iPhone doesn't do this, so my display is cluttered with past spam messages. Today I set "Move Spam Emails to Junk directory" ON in my ISPConfig for the mail accounts I'm monitoring on the iPhone. I'm hoping this will fix the clutter problem on my iPhone. By moving the spam to the Junk folder, I'm worried that eventually my mail server will be overloaded with junk mail. I understand that I can setup webmail (IMAP) and manage the Junk mail that way, but with lots of email accounts to check, this is not really satisfactory. Can I setup SpamAssassin to delete mail in the junk folder after X days? Cheers, Nap
I've made a mistake somewhere.... I've been trying to firgure out how to achieve the aim of my OP, and now have a small problem. Using ISPConfig in the Mail/Mailbox/User's_Mailbox/Mail_Filter screen, I switched the Move Spam Emails to Junk directory option on. Then I started having a look at the configuration options for Dovecot, Postfix, and SpamAssassin using WebMin. I was looking for an option to delete the spam that now was in the Junk folder. Whilst looking, I might have made some changes to the settings in those screen as I saw some interesting options. But TBH, I can't remember if I actually made changes, and if so, what they were. I don't have a backup of the settings either. Since then, I've not been able to download my mail, but sending is working fine. Unfortunately it took a week before I realised I've created this problem. I've unticked the ISPConfig Junk mail option for the moment but that didn't solve the problem, so it must be some server change I made. Today I've found the time to investigate what's going on. I sent an email from my hotmail address and then looked into my Postfix log files to see what's happening. mail.log and mail.info both show the incoming delivery of this mail. mail.warn and mail.err have no new entries, so no warnings or errors resulted. I don't know how to check whether the received mail was put into the mailbox of the recipient as the recipient was created in ISPConfig not through Ubunto adduser. If this is a well known problem and easy to fix, please help me. If it's a hard one, I don't want to waste your time. Cheers, Nap
Problem solved regarding not being able to download my mail. Turns out I forgot to restart Postfix and amavis. ( I think it was actually amavis). Now I'm happy again
