Check that amavis and postfix are running and listen to the right ports. netstat -tap amavis should listen on 10024, postfix on 25 and 10025
As I said previously, I do not use email and I have already removed clamav. My only concern is that when I install munin and monit, I want to be notified by the server by email/sms and I hope the programs I remove will not be needed. Now, to answer your questions. When I run "netstat -tap", I could not find postfix or amavis. Postfix tries to send the mail to something listening on port 10024. Check main.cf for content_filter and master.cf for 127.0.0.1:1002? You can´t stop using amavis without changing the (default) postfix-settings.
I will install munin and monit. I want them along with ispconfig3 to send me messages if the server has a problem. question: Do I need postfix and other mail functions for this? Because then I would need to install/activate them, instead of removing them. Please let me install munin and monit and then we can see at the error messages again.
