Hello Everyone, I'm very much a Noob to Linux but love learning as I go. I did run the perfect setup for mandriva 2006 and worked pretty good except that I cannot get my mail server to work. I keep getting message Connection timed out no matter if I'm sending or receiving mail. I've tried some test messages but none of them worked. Here's a sample of the typical messages in the log file: Mar 3 01:06:14 nibbles4u postfix/smtp[16435]: connect to mail.nibbles4u.com[70.30.166.248]: Connection timed out (port 25) Mar 3 01:06:14 nibbles4u postfix/smtp[16435]: 0B432816D8: to=<[email protected]>, relay=none, delay=79995, status=deferred (connect to mail.nibbles4u.com[70.30.166.248]: Connection timed out) Mar 3 01:06:40 nibbles4u postfix/smtp[16432]: connect to alt1.gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com[64.233.167.114]: Connection timed out (port 25) Mar 3 01:07:10 nibbles4u postfix/smtp[16432]: connect to alt2.gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com[66.249.83.27]: Connection timed out (port 25) Mar 3 01:07:40 nibbles4u postfix/smtp[16432]: connect to alt1.gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com[64.233.167.27]: Connection timed out (port 25) These are taken from /var/log/mail/info This is from a new install based on the tutorial. Anyone know why this would occur? I cannot send or receive mail as everything gets deferred because of the message. Your help is appreciated. Nibbles
Is your server behind a router or some kind of firewall? I can't connect to mail.nibbles4u.com either.
