    Hi All,
I am newbie but I have worked with apache, PHP and MySQL on a windows platform. I am trying to change to linux and I would like to set up an email server on my local machine. I dont have a real domain to host it BUT i would like to try it on my machine so that I propose the idea when it works to my other colleagues in school.

Does anyone know any useful resource I can use to set up the email server using postfix on SuSE 9.2 after installing and then installing like squirellmail for a web access.

I would like to use a domain which doesnt exist but be able to send email on the LAN or even outside. Hope to hear from you all. Waiting!

    Richard

    Have a look here: http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect_setup_suse_9.2_p5

If you don't use a control panel like ISPConfig, you will have to set up your mailboxes manually. This is described here: http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2

You should set up a DNS server for your local network only where you create the DNS records for your non-existant domain, and all your computers (including your mail server) in your local network should use this DNS server as their primary DNS server, because otherwise the domain can't be resolved.
