New guy here, hope I'm in the right spot. Trying to figure out if I have a problem, or if my problem lies with another server. I have a web app that will send out an email when triggered. Yesterday, there was an issue where the email was delayed for over an hour. This is the first time I've had this issue come up since it was implemented over a month ago. Looking at my mail log: Jul 25 04:22:44 er2005 postfix/smtp[368]: 4C2301683F: to=<email@address>, relay=relay server, delay=1, status=sent (250 2.0.0 k6P8Mh620634 Message accepted for delivery) Jul 25 06:21:06 er2005 postfix/smtp[2363]: 8E4591688E: to=<email@address>, relay=relay server, delay=2, status=sent (250 2.0.0 k6PAL4617936 Message accepted for delivery) Jul 25 07:27:04 er2005 postfix/smtp[3569]: 97E5218C4D: to=<email@address>, relay=relay server, delay=2, status=sent (250 2.0.0 k6PBR2623125 Message accepted for delivery) Jul 25 11:18:20 er2005 postfix/smtp[7522]: 1DBE51A28A: to=<email@address>, relay=relay server, delay=2, status=sent (250 2.0.0 k6PFIJ625809 Message accepted for delivery) Jul 26 12:55:06 er2005 postfix/smtp[3662]: 1AF331A29E: to=<email@address>, relay=none, delay=0, status=deferred (connect to relay server: Connection refused) Jul 26 13:28:05 er2005 postfix/smtp[4307]: 1AF331A29E: to=<email@address>, relay=none, delay=1979, status=deferred (connect to relay server: Connection refused) Jul 26 14:01:43 er2005 postfix/smtp[4900]: 1AF331A29E: to=<email@address>, relay=relay server, delay=3997, status=sent (250 2.0.0 k6QI1PZ13778 Message accepted for delivery) Jul 27 09:43:32 er2005 postfix/smtp[22683]: 4376C1A1F7: to=<email@address>, relay=relay server, delay=1, status=sent (250 2.0.0 k6RDhVj22668 Message accepted for delivery) Jul 27 12:13:11 er2005 postfix/smtp[24982]: 771F71A29A: to=<email@address>, relay=relay server, delay=2, status=sent (250 2.0.0 k6RGD9j13128 Message accepted for delivery) I see where things went wrong. The problem is, I don't know enough to tell for a fact that it was the relay server causing the problem instead of my server. Anyone able to help me out? Forgot to mention, I have not made any configuration changes to my server.
There may be several reasons: 1) You where on some kind of blacklist 2) The relay server uses some sort of greylisting 3) A temporary failure on the relay server Maybe you can ask the admin of the relay server what the problem was.
