    hi,
I've successully built up a postfix email system on Debian and it's working great

There are some questions related to postfix quota that I want to ask:

    1. could I, instead of using apt-get source to get postfix source from debian source (v2.5.5), download the source from postfix.org, so that i can get the latest postfix source and also the latest quota patch (2.6.5) then follow the howto guide to create .deb file

    2. if I run 'apt-get upgrade' for the whole system, postfix and postfix-mysql and related stuff will also be upgraded, should it affect the current running postfix system. I mean, does the upgraded postfix contain the quota patch?

    thanks

    No, this doesn't work.

No. But you can exclude Postfix from any updates with apt-pinning: http://www.howtoforge.com/a-short-introduction-to-apt-pinning
