After a week of reading several different forum sources and documentation, I am at a loss as to how to get postfix working correctly. I will try and give as much info as I can as to what I have done so far. The reason for doing this is that my isp blocks sending email from this ip address using spamhaus as it is not a business account i would assume. ok made some progress, i changed relayhost = [smtp.secureserver.net]:80 to relayhost = [smtpout.secureserver.net]:3535 and did the necessary changes to postmap etc if i send email from my personal email to the xxxxxx.com account it goes through just fine. but going from the xxx.com account to my personal email it doesn't. this is what I get now: "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender" This is the mail system at host web1.xxxxxx.com. I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below. For further assistance, please send mail to postmaster. If you do so, please include this problem report. You can delete your own text from the attached returned message. some more progress, when i setup the godaddy email account i set it to be a catchall, so instead of trying to send from the godaddy email account to my personal, i tried to send from say [email protected] to [email protected] and it went through just fine no errors. thanks for your help Falko but apparently after an hour on the phone with godaddy, they do not allow for outgoing relay using godaddy email without using their dedicated hosting servers. Which is actually a different relay host then what I have configured. In order to use their relay and host your own webserver you have to use their email servers and completely bypass postfix, leaving me with no control over the email server. Which is why they wanted the mx and cname records added/changed. Mybe a call to my isp and tell them to unblock my IP address from their "blacklist" through spamhaus is the only option for me to run both webserver and email server at the same time, or a complete domain name move from godaddy who will allow me to relay using postfix without having to use their dedicated web hosting plans, which will probably cost me more money anyway. Now I know why godaddy domains are so cheap, they get their money either way.
