I recently installed Postfix using the Postfix - CentOS 5.1 tutorial. Everything is working great... except for one nagging issue... When sending an email with MORE THAN 50 recipients, the client logs in without issue, but then times out after about 5 minutes and never sends the message. When sending a message with anything LESS THAN 50 recipients, no problem. The users can login to the mail server successfully, as well as send and receive messages normally. Its only when sending a message with more the 50 recipients. I have been through the maillogs, but haven't found anything out of the ordinary. There are no errors. I have also tried changing numerous options from the defaults in main.cf and master.cf, but nothing I have tried seems to fix the issue. As I always tell my customers, you can't be the only one that has ever encountered this problem. So, I hoping someone here has either encountered this problem and can point me to the solution, or take a quick look and see if there is something I am missing. I have already changed that setting to 500. As I understand, the output of postconf -d is simply to display ALL of the Postfix default settings, regardless of whether or not they have been modified to be something OTHER THAN default. The output of postconf -n will display all of the NON-DEFAULT settings. I see that I mislabeled the postconf output in my first post. That is actually the output of postconf without any variables, which displays ALL of the ACTIVE Postfix settings. If you diff the output of postconf from the first post with the output from postconf -d, you will see that their are quite a few differences. Yes. Postfix has been restarted each time I make a change to the main.cf config file. UPDATE. After spending what seems like hours going through verbose maillogs, I found something that caught my attention. I noticed that there is a line added to the maillog when a message is sent which includes (nrcpt=X) where X is the number of recipients for a particular message. I found maillog entries with the number of recipients above 50, but under 100. Working with the customer, I tested this theory... and I was correct. I confirmed that the customer is NOT limited to 50 recipients, but limited to 100 recipients. Any message sent with over 100 recipients, and the clients just hangs, then times out. I went through and looked at each Postfix config option with a current or default setting of 100 and changed it to 500. Unfortunately, the problem still persists. There has to be something somewhere that is enforcing this restriction. But, there are no errors generated and nothing telling me why. Please please please, I really need some help here. I have spent way too much time trying to track down a solution for this issue without success. Thank you. -R
