+Postfix does not use Amavis with the default config from ISPC... +procmail is filtering the mails... +The smptd ist receiving incomming mail into postfix... +spamassassin and clamav are filtering the mails for unwanted content... +There is a mailque with waiting mails... + etc... And there are lots of other programms which do there significant work in the whole mail-sending-process. I'm not understanding this complex composition how all this manny parts go together. Ist there sombody who can explain the detailed way of a mail through the ISPC postfix - from the senden to the maildir and further to the recipient? Which program starts which other program - how do all participant programms work together, do the main work?
Postfix receives a mail, pipes it through procmail which then invokes SpamAssassin, ClamAV, etc. and finally puts it into Maildir/mbox from where you fetch it with your email client which connects to your POP3/IMAP server.
Ah, that sonds very easy Is it right, that in this way the emails are scaned for spam and virusses at the end of the tranzport prozess and with amavis it would be scaned at the beginning of the tranzport whith the effect, if an unwanted email is comming and adressed form more than one address the email with amavis would be scaned only once for all otherwise with procmail every it means more mails are need to be scaned?
