    Hi all!
    I have a new problem about POP3 service that i have posted on Installation/Configuration box, but i thnik here is the best position
    After create a new email account in Cpanel, i have check successfully on webmail, sending& receiving are very nice
    But when i use Outlook Express to check mail, there is a problem. Because SMTP server and POP server are installed in only one server, i enter the IP address of server for SMTP&POP3 server parameter in Outlook, insert username and password and done......
    Click send/receive in Outlook, it notice
    Account: '203.162.0.214', Server: '203.162.0.214', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Authentication failed.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92
    and i can't login to my email
    My SMTP is Postfix, POP3=Dovecot, I have config all as the same as guide tutorial. telnet at port 25 and 110 are good, these services are online.Also checked " Mail dir" in ISPConfig Setting
    Maillog in /var/log/maillog:

    Is there any errors in TLS authentication? If i don't want using TLS with Dovecot. What should i do?
    I really need this POP3 services for customer

    try using domain:
    customer_domain.url
    as mail server for pop3.

    since you probably have more than one site/customer/domain on same IP

    Oh, poor me!
    i have replaced IP adddress with domain but it isn't valuable.
    Maillog shows:
    dovecot: pop3-login: Disconnected: user=<[email protected]>, method=PLAIN, rip=::ffff:203.162.130.197, lip=::ffff:203.162.0.214

    So basically what you say is that you can :
    - Send and Receive mail from and to webmail
    - Receive via pop3 and
    - NOT SEND via smtp?

    If that is the case you have problems with SMTP authentication, and I cannot help you with Devecot since I use Postfix.

    ... but I did have similar problems so I suggest you to go again thru Devecot install procedure and check all setings. Pay attention to main config file and typos.

    If you don’t find anything post a link to a How-To that you were using during install so I'll try to help.

    Just to check: did you enabled "My server needs authentication" in Outlook under More settings option in Mail Account?

    OK, i have just known this problem. It's caused by SMTP authentication. Default, Post& Dovecot are not configed to talk each other
    So, i do follow this guide
    Edit the file /etc/dovecot.conf and make sure your auth default section has the lines below.
    auth default {
    socket listen {
    client {
    path = /var/spool/postfix/private/auth
    mode = 0660
    user = postfix
    group = postfix
    }
    }
    mechanisms = plain login
    }

    and
    Edit /etc/postfix/main.cf, find the keys below and change its values as follows or add it at the bottom of the file if the key (the word before the = sign) cannot be found..
    mynetworks = 127.0.0.0/8
    smtpd_sasl_type = dovecot
    smtpd_sasl_path = private/auth

    smtpd_sasl_auth_enable = yes
    smtpd_recipient_restrictions = permit_mynetworks,
    permit_sasl_authenticated, reject_unauth_destination
    broken_sasl_auth_clients = yes

    Now, we can Receive/Send mail from Outlook & Windows Mail

    Thanks _X_ and everybody

    In a normal ispconfig installation, the authentication is done with sasl and not trough dovecot. You can do it of course like that but if you would have followed one of the perfect setup tutorials, the authentication would have been configured already.
