Hi all! I have a new problem about POP3 service that i have posted on Installation/Configuration box, but i thnik here is the best position After create a new email account in Cpanel, i have check successfully on webmail, sending& receiving are very nice But when i use Outlook Express to check mail, there is a problem. Because SMTP server and POP server are installed in only one server, i enter the IP address of server for SMTP&POP3 server parameter in Outlook, insert username and password and done...... Click send/receive in Outlook, it notice Account: '203.162.0.214', Server: '203.162.0.214', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Authentication failed.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92 and i can't login to my email My SMTP is Postfix, POP3=Dovecot, I have config all as the same as guide tutorial. telnet at port 25 and 110 are good, these services are online.Also checked " Mail dir" in ISPConfig Setting Maillog in /var/log/maillog: connect from unknown[127.0.0.1] postfix/smtpd[7454]: setting up TLS connection from unknown[127.0.0.1] postfix/smtpd[7454]: TLS connection established from unknown[127.0.0.1]: TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA ( 256/256 bits) sendmail[7449]: STARTTLS=client, relay=[127.0.0.1], version=TLSv1/SSLv3, verify=FAIL, cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA , bits=256/256 dovecot: pop3-login: Disconnected: user=<[email protected]>, method=PLAIN, rip=::ffff:118.71.192.150, lip=::ffff:203.162.0.214 dovecot: pop3-login: Disconnected: user=<[email protected]>, method=PLAIN, rip=::ffff:118.71.192.150, lip=::ffff:203.162.0.214 Jul 26 21:23:08 Web4 dovecot: pop3-login: Disconnected: user=<[email protected]>, method=PLAIN, rip=::ffff:118.71.192.150, lip=::ffff:203.162.0.214 dovecot: pop3-login: Disconnected: method=PLAIN, rip=::ffff:118.71.192.150, lip=::ffff:203.162.0.214 Is there any errors in TLS authentication? If i don't want using TLS with Dovecot. What should i do? I really need this POP3 services for customer
try using domain: customer_domain.url as mail server for pop3. since you probably have more than one site/customer/domain on same IP
Oh, poor me! i have replaced IP adddress with domain but it isn't valuable. Maillog shows: dovecot: pop3-login: Disconnected: user=<[email protected]>, method=PLAIN, rip=::ffff:203.162.130.197, lip=::ffff:203.162.0.214 dovecot: pop3-login: Disconnected: user=<[email protected]>, method=PLAIN, rip=::ffff:203.162.130.197, lip=::ffff:203.162.0.214 Dear _X_, how do U use POP3 mail services?
Domain Mail Server/Exchanger for: webserver3.vdc.com.vn webserver3.vdc.com.vn. 86400 IN A 203.162.0.214 vdc.com.vn. 22886 IN NS vdc-hn01.vnn.vn. vdc-hn01.vnn.vn. 69419 IN A 203.162.0.11 webserver3.vdc.com.vn. 86400 IN MX 10 mail.webserver3.vdc.com.vn. vdc.com.vn. 35199 IN NS vdc-hn01.vnn.vn. vdc-hn01.vnn.vn. 28210 IN A 203.162.0.11 try using mail.webserver3.vdc.com.vn as mail server (pop3 and SMTP) with appropriate username and pass.
Oh, nothing change! It's still require password but when i enter the password, it appears again! The log is: dovecot: pop3-login: Disconnected: user=<[email protected]>, method=PLAIN, rip=::ffff:203.162.130.197, lip=::ffff:203.162.0.214
try using: admin as username instead of admin[at]webserver3.vdc.com.vn admin[at]webserver3.vdc.com.vn is used in webmail
Oh, i try like that and i have loged in but only option "Receive all" in Outlook are available (i received mail), option "Send/Receive" still required user/password although i check "remember password" when sending from Outlook but no errors can be seen I resend a new mail from [email protected] to gmail by webmail. From gmail, i send a reply but i can't receive this mail, gmail no notice errors. Login Outlook but not received anything, webmail still ok Logmail is: C7276F00051: to=<[email protected]>, relay=gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com[209.85.199.27]:25, delay=1.7, delays=0.07/0.01/0.69/0.92, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 2.0.0 OK 1248706756 k37si23147115rvb.5) postfix/qmgr[23963]: C7276F00051: removed postfix/smtpd[15932]: connect from unknown[209.85.216.183] postfix/smtpd[15932]: 86CC5F00051: client=unknown[209.85.216.183] postfix/cleanup[15935]: 86CC5F00051: message-id=<[email protected]> Jul 27 21:59:57 Web4 postfix/qmgr[23963]: 86CC5F00051: from=<[email protected]>, size=2688, nrcpt=1 (queue active) Jul 27 22:00:00 Web4 sendmail[15997]: n6RExv4Q015997: from=admin, size=107, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<[email protected]>, relay=admin@localhost postfix/smtpd[16017]: connect from unknown[127.0.0.1] Jul 27 15:00:00 Web4 postfix/smtpd[16017]: setting up TLS connection from unknown[127.0.0.1] postfix/smtpd[16017]: TLS connection established from unknown[127.0.0.1]: TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits) Jul 27 22:00:00 Web4 sendmail[15997]: STARTTLS=client, relay=[127.0.0.1], version=TLSv1/SSLv3, verify=FAIL, cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA, bits=256/256 postfix/smtpd[16017]: 159D9F0005A: client=unknown[127.0.0.1], [email protected] Jul 27 22:00:00 Web4 postfix/cleanup[15935]: 159D9F0005A: message-id=<[email protected]> postfix/qmgr[23963]: 159D9F0005A: from=<[email protected]>, size=694, nrcpt=1 (queue active) sendmail[15997]: n6RExv4Q015997: [email protected], ctladdr=admin (10016/10006), delay=00:00:03, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=30107, relay=[127.0.0.1] [127.0.0.1], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (Ok: queued as 159D9F0005A) postfix/smtpd[16017]: disconnect from unknown[127.0.0.1] Could U correct me!! So basically what you say is that you can : - Send and Receive mail from and to webmail - Receive via pop3 and - NOT SEND via smtp? If that is the case you have problems with SMTP authentication, and I cannot help you with Devecot since I use Postfix. ... but I did have similar problems so I suggest you to go again thru Devecot install procedure and check all setings. Pay attention to main config file and typos. If you don’t find anything post a link to a How-To that you were using during install so I'll try to help. Just to check: did you enabled "My server needs authentication" in Outlook under More settings option in Mail Account?
OK, i have just known this problem. It's caused by SMTP authentication. Default, Post& Dovecot are not configed to talk each other So, i do follow this guide Edit the file /etc/dovecot.conf and make sure your auth default section has the lines below. auth default { socket listen { client { path = /var/spool/postfix/private/auth mode = 0660 user = postfix group = postfix } } mechanisms = plain login } and Edit /etc/postfix/main.cf, find the keys below and change its values as follows or add it at the bottom of the file if the key (the word before the = sign) cannot be found.. mynetworks = 127.0.0.0/8 smtpd_sasl_type = dovecot smtpd_sasl_path = private/auth smtpd_sasl_auth_enable = yes smtpd_recipient_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, permit_sasl_authenticated, reject_unauth_destination broken_sasl_auth_clients = yes Now, we can Receive/Send mail from Outlook & Windows Mail Thanks _X_ and everybody
In a normal ispconfig installation, the authentication is done with sasl and not trough dovecot. You can do it of course like that but if you would have followed one of the perfect setup tutorials, the authentication would have been configured already.
