I am interested in using ISPconfig on one of our servers but have had problems installing this software on our server which is already in production. Fedora Core 4 - currently over 200 users Postfix - currently over 200 users with virtualusertable referencing about 50 different domains Apache - about 50 virtual hosts MySQL 5 - 6 or 7 different databases bind9 - 50 different DNS zones Is there any way to implement ISPconfig on a production box like this without significant downtime? If so, are there detailed instructions on how to set it up? I've tried using the ./setup script, and it broke just about everything (postfix, apache, etc...) Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this software package is just what we're looking for.
ISPConfig is for fresh installs. If you already have web sites and users on the system, you cannot avoid some downtime as you must recreate all of them again in ISPConfig.
Thank you for the quick response time. Looks like its back to the drawing board for me. Do you plan on making changes to ISPconfig in the near future that will allow for install on production systems with users, websites, etc...?
No. Those changes wont be possible because this means ISPConfig wont be able anymore to get control over the config files that have to be configured.
The problem is there are millions of ways how someone can configure a system, and it's impossible for ISPConfig to recognize all of them...
