Hi, I have 2 servers master1 and slave1 ( master1l is the master and salve1 the mirror), I would like to add a other Ip for hosting web sites on master, I'm going on ispconfig interface system>server ip adress>new ip adress. I select master1, write my new ip and tick namevirtual host. And after I want to assign the ip adress on sites>web sites>add new sites web and the ipdoesn't appear on interface And when I assign these ip on slave1 I see these ip when i would like to add new site web Thank in advance for your help
Please check the server settings of the amster and slave server. On the master server, the field "is slave of" has to be set to none while in the slave server settings, you have to select the master server in the "is mirror of" setting. If you do this the other way round, then you get the problem you described. as master and slave are then mixed up.
Thanks for your reply I already check if the slave is the mirror of the master in mysql. For IP failover I must add ip on the 2 servers, it's maybe the problem the 2 servers have the ip? I have a other master and slave and it's work well on with the same configuration. I don't understand where the problem come from. Thank you very much
You can not add the same IP on two servers simultaniously as this will cause network problems. Better use * in the website settings, so you can access the same site on both servers independantly of the IP address. Another option is to use a shared IP which gets switched to the active server e.g. with heartbeat.
I only add ip adress on ispconfig interface on master. For my problem I must to assign ip on slave server on ispconfig interface ( I add ip on master on network interfaces ) to see on ispconfig the ip for website settings. How resolve it? I have a other question if I use * instead of the ip I must to use the real ip of the server I can't switch after using ip fail over between the 2 servers? Thanks for your help
With *, you can use any IP address. As the vhosts do not depend on the IP then, instead only the domain name is used. Thats why it is recommended to use * on mirror setups.
Thanks for your reply I understand better how configure my Ip fail over. Sorry to insist please have you a idea why I have a problem to configure ip on ispconfig interface and how I can solve my problem. I have a module between ispconfig and whmcs and I must to have a ip assign on ispconfig to create a account.
In a mirror setup, you normally use * and not the IP in ISPConfig. If thats not supported by the whmcs module, you might want to ask the author of that module if he can add support for * as well. Regarding the IP selection, check again that the IP that you added is really assigned to the amster and not the slave server.
