hi i have perfect server 18.04+apache when i try to move wp website to my server (from ionos) i get this error when i tried to import sql db Error: “#1071 – Specified key was too long; max key length is 767 bytes” i never face this kind of proble, i apreciate your help tx in advance
i read about sql 5.7 minimum, but i dont sure which is equivalente in mariaDb, maybe 10.4, and i read that Till say ispconfig wont has support of 10.4 ( i dont be sure about ispconfig 3.2)
Ubuntu 18.04 has a older MariaDB version (10.1) in the repo with this problem. Should be resolved with Ubuntu 20.04 / 22.04 which is now supported by ISPConfig as well. So upgrade OS and then MariaDB.
can i update 18.04 to 20 o 22 w/o fear? i need to know everything about risk, because we talking about bussiness!
without fear? no. there's always a chance something will go wrong. as long as you have a current backup of the server, and have successfully tested the restoration process you should be reasonably safe. even better if you can clone the server/vps and test the update process on that first.
