Problem with Starting FreeNX. Followed Guide. Centos. Dont think GNOME is running.
Hey, using a guide found at: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/FreeNX

I installed freenx and the client on the server, then downloaded the client on my windows pc.

The Server is running CentOs 5.0, cpanel 11, and I also had GNOME installed.

The problem is, I don't think GNOME is setup, or running.

    When Connecting I get this:

Hopefully this will be my last obstacle with installing freenx

Can you log in to the desktop directly on the CentOS system?

no I'm not able to, as its a headless sever that's hosted in a datacenter. I just have access via ssh. That's one of the reasons we need freenx enabled.

    Thanks.

Maybe the directory where the nxserver stores its sessions is not there or it is not writable for the nxserver process. Please post the output of:

    ls -la /var/lib/nxserver/db/running/

    [root@10 ~]# ls -la /var/lib/nxserver/db/running/
    total 8
    drwx------ 2 nx root 4096 Aug 14 12:08 .
    drwx------ 5 nx root 4096 Aug 14 01:40 ..
    [root@10 ~]#

is there any way I can give you access to my server, so you can check it out for yourself? I've worked 2 days on it so far, still no luck.

    Thanks :D
