Hi, At Step 6 – "Upload Joomla to your webserver:" You must simply upload your joomla site from your local desktop to your webspace by using the administrator FTP account for that website, which you've defined already at step 2. You can do this with any FTP-client or Windows XP.
thanks for reacting.... I manually uploaded the folder Joomla_1.0.12-Stable-Full_Package_dutch.zip_FILES to /var/www/mywebsite.org pointed the webbrowser mywebsite.org but I could not connect to it because it cannot be found.... I run debian etch are there more steps that I must take? Where can I read more about ISPconfig or maybe another howto about Joomla on debian etch thanks in advance
First: You have to upload the CONTENT of your Joomla folder on your local desktop to your webspace /var/www/webX/web NOT/var/www/webX. Then: Within your browser point to http://www.yourwebsite.tld/ where you should see the Joomla installation screen.
That's not your URL (see .tld) Top Level Domain. Please, take the steps carefully as described within the Joomla howto. It's not that hard
Thanks for reacting.... I folowed the how to where myjoomlawebsite.tld is raysunonline.tld did I miss something? If so what should be my websites name keep in mind that I am new to Linux and that I would like to learn more about computer related info.... thanks in advance....
I realise that you're a beginner, but you must understand that i wrote the Joomla howto as easy as possible. With other words: I can not explain it better than within the howto. Did you read the manuals at http://www.ispconfig.org already? They help you to setup a client and a website with a MySQL database within ISPConfig. Not Joomla related but, i want to know: Did you register your domain name at your DNS-provider and is that domain name pointing to the IP-address of your server? If not, change the DNS-records for that domain name.
I read the manual it contains the info you wrote in the how to To be honest I did not know I had to do that.... I will try this later....
