I have just moved some large mbox file over from another server, and I noticed that when the account with a large mbox file (100+ meg) receives an email, procmail chokes and and postfix returns an error email. Example email: <[email protected] (expanded from <user@domaincom>): can't create user output file. Command output: procmail: Error while writing to "/var/mail/usermboxfile" If I cut down the file size to around 40 meg, things seem ok. Any ideas on how to get procmail to not error out when trying to write to a large mbox?
This is from users mailboxes I created in ISPConfig... example from maillog Jan 11 09:49:48 server postfix/local[29627]: D9F4EE5F0B: to=<[email protected]>, orig_to=<[email protected]>, relay=local, delay=1, status=bounced (can't create user output file. Command output: procmail: Error while writing to "/var/mail/usermbox" ) Quota is fine, permissions look OK.
Have you considered to change to maildir instead of mbox. the mbox format is known to make problems when the files become large.
