I did a Debian Sarge installation and thought I followed the directions on the tutorial word for word.

But I can't ftp files to my web server.

I'm trying to connect as admin and I can connect and view files. The file will show up on the server in the ftp window but it says Critical Transfer error on the log report. And if I try and bring up the file in the webpage it says it can't be found.

What info do I need to post to help diagnose?

    Thanks,
    J

Please check your xferlog and syslog for errors.

The xferlog had 4 entries but didn't say error or anything.

The syslog had a lot of entries but just connection made, connection closed. No errors that I saw.

Which FTP program do you use? please try a program like wsftp (lite) and post the exact error message from your ftp client here.

I spent the weekend working on it and got it worked out.

    Thanks for the replies.
