i am very new to this... i can't login as either a user on the system or a client on ispconfig...

and i saw something when trying another ftpd about depreciated pam or something

Which username do you use for login? ISPConfig clients can not login with FTP. You have to craete a user under the email & user tab of the website. then use the username and password you created for FTP login. The usearname has this form: web[ID]_user

And dont forget to check the FTP checkbox in the website settings.
