proftpd root logins

Hi,
Im trying to allow root login in ftp im using same username and password but it gives me error Response: 530 Login incorrect. , ive also added RootLogin on
in proftpd.cong but still same error im running opensuse10.1 and ive installed proftpd using howtoforge perfect suse setup
