Good morning, there's an issue that we've been seeing a bit more often recently. This has been happening on a variety of servers running ubuntu 10.04. Every so often pure-ftp will spawn 20 or 30 (sometimes more) processes, each taking up a hefty chunk of CPU usage, load will go up to between 50 and 100. Restarting pure ftp won't help but if I kill the pure-ftp processes and restart it, load drops right back down. Sometimes it will happen again immediately and you need to restart again but usually just the once. Is there any way to limit how many processes pureftp can spawn?
Hi vmos2, Did you solve your problem? I'm having the same problem on Linode VPS under Ubuntu 10.04. The weird thing is, it only happens on my Linode VPS, not my other VPS server.
NICE!!! Thanks much falko. Should have tried this, but I was hesitating due to the fact that Linode is using Xen on their platform instead of OpenVZ, while my other VPS is using OpenVZ and not facing this problem. Hope it helps clarifying things for others.
Hi there, i've a similar problem with Linode VPS and pureftp with Debian 7. Seeems that randomly pure-ftpd crashes and need to restart manually. This fix shloud work also for this kind of problem?
