The problem is that a remote email server is rejecting some mail. If I log into webmail and send an email its fine, but when I use the system to send mail or send mail as a result of a cgi program the mail wont go through.

Root gets an email regarding these failed attempts at send mail here is one of the emails:

I think the problem is that the email address does not exist and when the remote mail server tries to check the email address it throws up the error.

    1) So first can you change the default email address for the system

    2) When a customer runs a cgi script that emails a form the email address that the sytem uses is wrong (well does not exist) so there must be a setting somewhere in postfix to edit this.....

Somewhere there is a setting that I have done wrong....

Can anyone help with this, I am trying to find answers myself and will post anything I find out in case anyone is having the same problem.

    Thanks

This line in my mail log:

    Jun 25 15:52:47 server1 postfix/smtp[19138]: 936F834026E: to=<[email protected]>, relay=mx.core.plus.net[212.159.11.36], delay=16, status=bounced (host mx.core.plus.net[212.159.11.36] said: 550-Verification failed for <[email protected]> 550-REJECTED: Cannot route message 550 Sender verify failed (in reply to RCPT TO command))

I would have thought that the sending email address <[email protected]> the domain should be the domain that that customer has got and not the server.xxxxx

    Thanks

Create an A record for server1.touchonehosting.co.uk.
    Also, add
    Code:
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    to /etc/hosts.

Create A record in ISPconfig.... or directly into the dns records.

    Thanks

I thought it would be something simple.

The authoritative name servers for touchonehosting.co.uk are ns.hosteurope.com and ns2.hosteurope.com, so you must create the A record there.

That is stupid, I have most of my domains registered with one registrar that allows me to specify nameservers... dns records..... pretty much anything, and I set all of my domains to the same nameserer ns1.touchonehosting.co.uk and ns2..... but now after checking all the domains they have all been set back to the defaults which is the registrar ones...

So unless they get changed back to default ones if your chosen name servers are offline I dont know, but I will make sure that A records are set correctly.

    Thanks for your help.
