I want to setup a home/work server using Ubuntu server 10.04 with Ispconfig & MythTV on the box. If I setup my regular server & install Myth, will I be casing any problems with a future Ispconfig install? I'd like to setup MythTV first but I'm concerned that the SQL server settings in Myth will cause some problem when it comes time to configure Ispconfig.
I don't think it will be any problem for mysql as it can handle many databases and during upgrades, I can't think of any reason for ISPConfig to interfere with those... however, mythtv looks pretty resource intensive. Is the box you're running it on really powerful enough to handle video recording, web, email, database, dns etc etc all at the same time? Most ISPConfig setups don't run on a box with any gui at all, let alone one acting as a personal video recorder.
Good questions. The capture card has a hardware encoder on it so that free's the cpu up. Playing video usually doesn't happen much during the day, and I'm planning on using it for a couple of web apps that we use in the office so we're not looking at a lot of traffic. I actually installed ISPConfig first & then MythTV & everything looks OK so far, though I'm not finished setting everything up. Thanks for your input.
