I read this How-To by Till: http://www.howtoforge.com/installing-openvz-plus-management-of-vms-through-ispconfig-3-debian-6.0 I have never done anything with virtualization, total newbie. Question: does this technique allow for hosting Vservers that will appear completely independent from each other, i.e. different hostname, different host domain, no way to tell they are on the same hardware?
thank you till, and from the outside there is also no way to tell they are on the same hardware, right?
The hardware ID of the network card is the same as far as I know as all vm's use the same card (the one of the host server), so there is most likely a way to find out which vm's are one the same server.
ok, is the hardware ID the same as a MAC address? In this case, I know for sure that MAC addresses are only broadcasted on LAN and not on WAN, so this information will not be available to anyone connecting from outside the same LAN.
