Hey guys, The following are some qeustions I had when I started this journey with ISPConfig. I figured it would benefit someone else if I asked any way. I am sorry to bother everyone but I need some help with the ISPConfig thing, I am very serious about wanting to start a small hosting company. I am miffed as to where I create my main site because when I go to to this url http://www.hougameserv.com I get the directory listing that follows: [DIR] apache2-default/ 27-Sep-2006 12:41 - [DIR] sharedip/ 08-Apr-2007 09:00 - [DIR] webalizer/ 08-Apr-2007 08:40 - Where is this directory located? Also If I am to be the actual hosting company where in ISPConfig do I create my site? Do I create myself as a reseller? Which one do I create it under -> admin, reseller, client, Site? Also I noticed that it has all my info in it under Management -> Server Settings. However when I checked the DNS Named.conf nothing is in there, Speaking of DNS where do I create my Master DNS Zone at for the whole server. One more thing on DNS, I noticed that Falko in some of his other Perfect Setups added two IPs to the NIC eth0 and eth0:0, Why do you not do it in Ubuntu? Also at the top of the form (settings) it says Server Name is Server 1. Is this just an Identifier for my server or is it significant to the setup of ISPConfig? I have since figured out most of them but for the Noobs (Like MySelf to hear) would be good to hear some answers to these questions. Thanks for your help in advance.
Did you create a web site www.hougameserv.com in ISPConfig? What's in your Vhosts_ispconfig.conf, and what's the output of Code: ifconfig ? That's up to you. You don't need to create a reseller, but you can. What are the authoritative name servers of your domains? If they're managed by someone else (e.g. your domain registrar), then you don't have to worry about ISPConfig's DNS Manager. You can do it on Ubuntu as well, however so many people got confused about that virtual IP address (which is totally optional and was included only as an example of how to do it if you need it) that I decided to leave it out in the tutorial. It's just an identifier and not important. At the beginning of the ISPConfig development we thought about making ISPConfig capable of managing multiple servers, that's why this field is included. However, this feature will be availble with ISPConfig 3, but not the current ISPConfig.
