    Hello
I had the same problem on my first VPS , now that I have switched it again it happens , but I'm not able to find the problem . ( I'm using ISPConfig )
Doing tests , from gmail/hotmail I am able to receive , but to send emails no. From roundcube shows that the message has been sent , but nothing happens .
Following my old thread , I will link some logs so maybe you can find where the problem is coming from .

you don't say where your vps is hosted. they are likely blocking every outbound connection to any server with a destination port of 25.
some hosting companies will allow it, but severely rate limit the connections.
some such as aws, you can request them to configure a reverse lookup record for the vhost's ip. when they do that, they also remove the destination port 25 restrictions, so you can send as much email as you like to wherever you want.
so it would be worth checking with your hosting provider if there's anything they can do to unblock outbound port 25 for you.
