Dear support, I have setted up an SMTP server (for my websites) with ISP config. I have created my domains, and one mailbox per domain for the authentication. My problem is : when I send a mail from the websites with a non-existent domain on ISP as a destination it works, but when the destination domain is declared in ISP I got this error message : "Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual mailbox table". I have to declare as a mailbox throught ISP every email address potentially used as a destination, and I can't do that. Could you please help me to solve this ? Thank you in advance, Best regards.
How can that work? In what way does it work, i.e. what happens when sending e-mail like that? I do not understand why one would want that. If you send an e-mail with some recipient address, how could it work if that destination does not exist? Can you create one e-mail box at some domain and send all e-mails to that address?
well, you're trying to deliver to a mailbox recipient that doesn't exist, what else would you expect your mailserver to do with it? you can create a catchall for the domain, but it will literally accept mail for anything @ that domain from any sender, internal or external, and send it to the target email address. even with aggressive spamfilter policies, you can expect that target email address to get significantly more junk. why are you trying to get your website to send to so many different local mail targets?
