Recommendation for two-server installation/configuration

I'd like to do a multi-server configuration of ISPConfig which has only two servers to start, web-server and database server. For now I'm not likely to use email or DNS services.

I found a multi-server tutorial for Debian on five-servers which seems like overkill for me, also I'm thinking of hosting on CentOS. Are there any tutorials for a two-server config on CentOS? Or should I be able to work out how to do only a two-server install from that tutorial?

I'm also thinking of installing on a single server to start, getting everything working, and then adding the dedicated database server later. Does that make sense? Are there any tutorials on adding a database-only slave server later?

    Thanks!

See Chapter 3.2 in the manual.
I would use debian or ubuntu instead of centos.
You can start with 1 server and add another server at any time.
