Recommended way of multiple version of php in ubuntu with ispconfig?

Hello and thanks everyone who may be willing to give some advice or insight

I have followed the official how to of installing ispconfig 3.1 in ubuntu 16.04 with apache2.
I now try to install multiple versions of php (default is 7.0 and i want to add 7.2).

I have found two types of tutorials for this.
The first one is by compiling php from the source (here and here)
while the other is by Ondřej Surý ppa (here and here).

Now the questions:
Is there a recommended way by ispconfig?
By compiling from the source will i have to compile again for every minor release or apt-get update and apt-get upgrade is enough?
Does the external ppa poses any threat to the ispconfig installation?
The exact how to refers to debian 8,9 it's the same for ubuntu 16.04 right?
Any pros or cons would be perfect!

If you want php 7.2, why not install Ubuntu 18.04, which has it already?

There is the tutorial you linked to. It is published in ispconfig support site, you can decide if it is recommended or not.

You have to decide whether to trust that ppa or not. You trusted Ubuntu repo already.

No. Ubuntu is not same as Debian.

As for Taleman's advice: My openvz vps (i think virtuoso 6) doesn't support 18.04 image and i think a lot of lowend openvz vps either. Till says it's ok so i guess it can be trusted.

And just an idea. Maybe it 's a nice idea (if someone somehow can find any time) to make a how to for Ondre ppa ispconfig and ubuntu!
