    I've buy domain from register.com and my server only have 1 ips.

    I've followed the Perfect Setup instruction but got one problem when i want assigned name server at register.com

    I create my domain name server and point to my ips. When I try to change nameserver from;

    dns049.register.com
    dns122.register.com
    dns123.register.com
    dns124.register.com

    to

    ns1.mydomain.com
    dns122.register.com

    it said that i need to have 2 nameserver that not belong to register.com.

    can i add this;
    ns1.mydomain.com
    ns2.myother.com

    myother.com is valid nameserver but the server not at my house.

    I hope anyone have success using register.com and ISPcontrol, please give me a guide.

    My problem is, i cannot add register.com secondry name server to my domain, it said that the ns already exist.

    Also, another problem ;

    Please enter the host name (e.g. www):www
    Please enter the domain (e.g. xyz.de):mydomain.com
    The URL is not reachable!

    p/s: sorry for my english, coz i not good in eglish.

    The installer will stop if it is unable to ping www.mydomain.com. Instead of using the domain, you can leave the hostname empty and enter your IP address as domain.

    sorry to revive this old thread, but I have a friend who's domain is registered on register.com

    We are trying to point his domain towards my server where we want to hsot his domain, but we are simply unable to set up my server as DNS on register.com

    it always complains but doesn't give any reason I can understand :-(

    my server is set up accordingly to the perfect debian 5.0 setup and using ispcfg3 and already hosting a couple of domains and working as a dns for some of them.

    is there any special requirement with register.com anyone is aware of?

    I even had a live chaat with one of the technicians at register.com but he wasn't able t oshed any light on this issue, all he was repeating all over was:

    he kept talking about registering the DNS !?

    btw. I'd love to post the whole caht here, but I am unsure if that is allowed, so if anyone is willing I can PM it, I really need to be able to fix this.

    Do you run a primary and secondary server on different IP addresses or have at least two IP addresses from different networks pointing to your server? Otherwise some dns providers might refuse the delegation of the domain.

    nope not really.
    but I have a second IP so I could go that route. any hints how to do that?
    right now, I just followed the debian 5.0 perfect server setup + ispcfg3 nothing more...

    btw. right now there are 3 DNS entries at register.com pointing to the current host and even if I change 1 of them and leave the other 2 it still doesn't wanna save :-(

    I have a server hostname of h??????.stratoserver.net as assigned by strato (the server provider) which I use as primary DNS for the domains I host. could I i.e. "sacrifice" another domain, tie it to the second IP I got from strato and use it as secondary DNS even though both DNS and IPs would actually resolve to the same machine? does that even work somehow?

    is there a way to use 1 server for my purpose?
