    Hello,
one of my DNS-Server needs a reinstallation. Only DNS is installed in this server.
    Would this steps work:
    - reinstall with (newer) Ubuntu (old 22.04, new 24.04)
    - same name and IP-address (IPv4 and IPv6)
    - install ISPConfig and connect with the same credentials to the panel?
Does ISPConfig create a new server in the panel, or does it detect the new server by name and assign the existing configuration to it?
    Regads Thomas

If everything will stay the same, like same hostname, IPv4 and IPv6 then it should be enough to make a backup of the current ISPConfig installation, which should include /usr/local/ispconfig and the ISPConfig database. You can use the ispc CLI utility for that.

Restore the backup on the reinstalled system and force-run the update/installer on the DNS server to make sure that the user's SQL permissions are correctly set.

Afterwards run the resync wizard in the interface for the DNS server to make sure that the zones are regenerated.
In either case, make file/SQL backups of both the DNS server and the server that hosts the panel, just in case something goes wrong.
