As discussed earlier, the Migration ran to completion and it looks like it transferred everything perfectly. However, I made DNS changes that were not good. If I re-run and only specify DNS, will it change anything in the system configuration or elsewhere? Would it be better to export/import the dns_soa and dns_rr tables? Or is there a more recent script for 3.2.12 that can be run to export so that the records can be imported from the ISPConfig DNS UI - and remove/overlay whatever is there? Thanks! EDIT I took a chance and re-ran Migration Toolkit just for DNS. Bad move. It copied all records, leaving existing records. So now the target system has doubles/duplicates and differences. I'm committed now to clearing the dns_rr and dns_soa and re-doing the migration. just for DNS. The Migration Toolkit does not overwrite DNS entries even when that option is selected. Though there are two overwrite options and I'm not sure if answering N on the second option would have made this operation successful: 1. Do you want me to overwrite/update existing entries with the same name? (y, n): 2. Should I try to keep the existing IDs for clients, webs etc. (IDs will still change if old ID is taken already)? (y, n): For now I'm clearing the two tables and will re-do the migration for DNS. I then need to simply transfer DNS responsibility to the new system, which still points to the original system IP, and then change IP addresses to point to the new system after DNS resolution. (Which I believe should work for this specific installation.) For historical/documentation here, what would have been the correct approach?
You must choose to overwrite existing records when prompted by the tool. If you have previously chosen to not overwrite records, then better delete the tool folder and download it again as this setting will be kept. The second question does not matter for overwriting or not overwriting records.
