I have one slave server that has websites and DB's and when I run OS-Update (aptitude -y upgrade) it has some kind of failure and the mysql won't start up again. I usually do a vmware snapshot before starting update and when it fails I revert back to the snapshot since its a high visibility production server

All my other slaves do the OS-Update just fine except this one. Is there a log file in ISPConfig that shows what happened during the OS-Update so I can try a late night fix. I can at most keep this server down for 30 minutes while I try to resolve. I have not had an update on that server in over 6 months. preparing another identical server and will start migrating the websites over one at a time if I can't get this fixed.

Any helpful hints on troubleshooting this?
    Thanks!

OS updates are not logged in ISPConfig. I recommend that you do the update on the shell to see what happens in details and when mysql fails to start, take a look into syslog file and mysql error.log to find out why it can't start anymore.
