Few months ago i got an issue with my server not backing up websites from one point. There is a thread over here with my problem http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64087 But since i didn't got any solutions to my problem and i suspect it's started when i updated ispconfig to latest version. My only solution is to restore backup of previous ispconfig and see. So in my /backup folder i have etc.tar.gz ispconfig_db_backup.sql ispconfig_software.tar.gz I guess it's backed up files from previous version of ispconfig. How do i restore it properly? do i just extract tar.gz files to their apropriate folders and load sql to ispconfig database?
Yes. The etc backup does not have to be restored, just restore the ispconfig backup and the sql dump. And do a backup of the current database and /usr/local/ispconfig directory, before you overwrite it.
FYI: I found several of the files in the system had been corrupted, including files in /usr/local/ispconfig. I think this had more to do with the host ssd the upgrade. I contacted the provider and they replaced the SSD from backup. I will need to upgrade again. Also, I started getting database errors when using PHPMyAdmin. So now I have the system back to before the upgrade attempt. Yah! So hopefully the upgrade goes smoothly this time. It was just pure coincidence that the drive failed to write file correctly when I ran the update script. Thanks for all your help Till and others.
