Resync - What does it require from start to finish

Hi guys.

Iv had a few install and hosting issues in the past and so have decided to setup a second hosting with a second provider just to see how well it works having a failover server.

i have centos 6.9 running ispconfig 3 on the old server
i have centos 7 running ispconfig 3.1 on the new server

my question is: resync. what is it? is it a tool in itself? or does it require additional tools to work?
from what i have read i select the server to send the information to, im just unsure on how to add the server to which i wish to sent the data to.
also i have noticed that ispconfig 3 doesnt have the option to select a server.

or does this require the migration tool? do to its cost (im using this as a test scenario) i am trying to find a way to do this without it costing (more than my time)

these servers are for email only. no websites. but also controls DNS name server configuration.

4.4.3.1 Resync
explains what resync is.
If you need to copy the data to a new server, the Migration tool does that. Alternative is to create customers, email accounts, users etc. on new server and copy files manually.

i was hoping there may have been a migration tool built in.

oh and the manual is not very descriptive about what it actually does. it just states to select the server but does not show how to add a server to select

 

Resync works to servers within that ISPConfig setup, single server or multiserver. Is your setup single server? Resync does nothing to another ISPConfig setup.
Besides, it sync settings, not contents of mailboxes or databases.
